Attorney Profile


Katherine L. Henry is a general practice attorney.  Katherine is admitted to practice law in Michigan State Courts, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Court, and the State of Minnesota.  She moved to Michigan in July 2008.  Before moving here, Katherine was an Assistant Public Defender for the State of Minnesota and an Associate Attorney at a private law firm.  As an Assistant Public Defender, Katherine handled adult misdemeanor offenses, all juvenile delinquency matters (including misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and felonies), and child protection cases.  Also in that role, Katherine attended numerous trainings, continuing legal education courses and group legal brainstorming sessions to enhance her understanding of the law and how best to serve clients.  As a private attorney, Katherine worked on a variety of cases, including, but not limited to, landlord-tenant, real estate, contract issues, business matters, and estate planning.  Katherine's specialty, however, was family law.  She handled all types of family law cases, including initial child custody and custody modifications, child support, spousal support, divorce, legal separation and more.  Also in this role, Katherine attended various trainings, continuing legal education courses and frequently collaborated with other attorneys to keep up-to-date on the law and continually learn new and improved methods of best serving client needs.


Katherine L. Henry is a member of the State Bar of Michigan; Midland County Bar Association; Federal Bar Association; the Eastern District of the Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association; the American Bar Association; Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce; Leadership Midland Alumni Association; Cambridge Who’s Who among Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs; and the National Forensics Honorary Pi Kappa Delta.


Katherine earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota.  During her undergraduate education, Katherine became a Member of Highest Distinction in the National Forensics Honorary Pi Kappa Delta.  She went on to earn her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  Katherine also received training in the areas of Civil Mediation, Family Mediation, Juvenile Court Guardian ad Litem, and Family Court Guardian ad Litem.  Katherine has also served in various law-related positions in the past ten years, including a guardian ad litem for Minnesota's Second Judicial District, a law clerk, a legal assistant, a volunteer at the New Orleans Legal Assistance Center, and a lobbyist to the Minnesota State Legislature.
